Ingredients
250g butter
500g flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
5 tablespoons of cold water (I used water from the fridge)
::Filling::
6 green apples
6 teaspoons of raisins
1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
150g sugar
30g butter
Method
1. For Filling: Mix all the ingredients in a pan and cook on a low heat till the apple softens. Set aside to cool.
2. Rub butter and flour to form breadcrumbs.
3. Add in egg and water, a bit at a time and mix well until a soft dough is formed. Cover with a damp cloth and leave to rest for about 10 - 20 minutes.
4. Roll the dough thinly amd cut into rectangle shape. Put the filling at one side and cover it with the other side of the dough. Put a bit of water at the edges. The water will act as a glue, so that the sides of the dough will stick together. Press with a fork at the edges to secure the filling.
5. Brush the pies with egg yolk and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 - 200 degree celcius till golden brown.
This version of apple pie is scrumptious if I do say so myself *tee-hee* .. It’s better to eat it while it’s hot, IMO.. I’ve made this last year, but I only had time to put up the recipe now.. *tsk tsk*.. lazy me.. Oh well, thanks again to Kak Rossya for the recipe
